Holiday Time

We sincerely hope that your Thanksgiving was bountiful. 2018 has been very good to us here at Pine Hollow Quilts. We are slowly adding some embroidery to the repertoire and will be rolling out items to purchase in the near future.

Tracy has made some quilting videos on using your stash of fabric. They are currently only on Facebook, we are hoping to add them here or on Youtube in the coming weeks. Stay tuned, we will send out a brief note on how to access these videos as soon as we get them available.

There is still time to get guaranteed Christmas completion of your quilting items. The last day for drop off is December 10th.

We are open until December 21st but no guarantee for Christmas delivery. We are closed for Christmas and New Year’s from Dec. 22nd through January 1st. We reopen on Wednesday, January 2, 2019.

We wish all of our clients a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year. We look forward to growing with you in 2019.

Happy Anniversary to Us

Wow! The last 3 years have flown by. Thank you for trusting in us for your quilting needs. We hope to be here for you for quite a while. With that in mind, we have updated our policies to better serve you and to keep up with the industry. Our pricing remains the same even though most of goods have increased.

Enjoy the fall weather.

Policy Updates for the Studio

Press your quilt top taking special care to press seams flat.

Trim all loose threads and thread tails.

Sew a running stitch around the outside edge of your quilt top, especially important if you have no borders.  (This helps hold edge seams together while the top is being handled and pinned to the quilting frame.)

Quilt backs and batting need to be at least 4 inches larger on all sides than the quilt top.  If your top is 45 X 65, your backing and batting need to measure at least 53 X 73.

Trim selvages from backing fabric before piecing together.  Selvages on the outside edges are okay to leave on as they are better for me to pin through.

Press backing seams open.

Flannel backing should have a running stitch around the edges to minimize stretching.

No sheets for backing!!!  Sheets have a much higher thread count than quilter’s cotton and are very difficult to quilt.

If you are using your own batting, please bring it in the package.  Knowing the fiber content and manufacturer will assist me in knowing how it will quilt.

Please remember a deposit is required at the time of drop off.  No work will be performed on your pieces until the deposit is made.

Please be sure pet hair is removed from your fabric.

No t-shirt quilts accepted.

There is now a minimum $25 charge on each piece.

Guild members will receive a 10% discount when membership card is shown.

Military members will receive a 10% discount with ID.

In Like a Lion...

Hard to believe March is already here.  We have openings for quilting.  the backlog from January and February has been cleared.

Throughout the year, I am going to be slowly adding some embroidered items that may be purchased.  This is a new endeavor for me, so we'll see how it goes.  I hope to have Christmas ornaments available later this fall.

Coloring placemats were a hit this past holiday season.  I plan to make more of these for several different seasons and holidays.  They can also be produced on regular printed fabric.  If you have the desire to freshen your dining room this year, stop by and see what we can do for you.

I am always ordering new quilting designs.  I have over 2000 right now.  If you want something fun and quirky, I have it!  If soft and feminine is more your style, I have those too.  Also a bunch just for the kiddos, too.  If I don't have the perfect design for you, I will get it.

Three Rivers Quilters quilt show is gearing up for the end of April.  You still have a couple of weeks to get your quilt registered for entry into the show.  Go to for entry forms and rules or just call me.  I have some available at the studio.  I have raffle tickets available for the show quilt.  I also have a few discount entrance tickets available.  Please check out my events page for all the info.

...Out Like a Lamb.

Welcome 2018. Let's jump in to some serious quilting!

Happy New Year, everyone.  I must apologize for a lack of newsletters this past year.  Quilting for all of you kept me very busy.  Thank you!!!  I look forward to serving you in this new year.  Please continue to spread the word that I am always accepting new customers.  If a new quilter tells me that you recommended Pine Hollow Quilts to them and gives your name, there will be a small token of my appreciation for both of you.

I have updated the events page on the website.  Several items that may interest you have been listed.  Be sure to add them to your calendars!

I am already getting booked up for January quilting.  I am now scheduling for the week of January 15th.  If you need something finished with a deadline, please give me a call soon.

I am continually updating my digital designs with new ones.  I hope to get some samples stitched out soon for you to see.  Several that I have recently added are "mouse ears", "4 leaf clovers and hearts", and "hummingbirds" to name a few.

A good way to keep up with what is happening in the studio is to follow us on Facebook.  I post photos of most quilts and also update it more often with happenings.

Lastly, check out our specials!  I've added a new one and updated the Summer BOGO that was such a hit 2 years ago.

Best Wishes for the new year to all of you.

Summer Fun and Quilts

The throes of summer are upon us.  What are some of the fun things you are doing?  Here at Pine Hollow Quilts, there is a whole lot of quilting going on.  I've been back from HandiQuilter Academy for a week now and am still feeling the excitement for all the things I learned.  In between your quilts, I will be stitching out 1 of a kind samples that can be used for your quilts.  I can also customize E2E designs for your quilts.  For example, you have a baby or wedding quilt and want a simple E2E design but would also really like to have their names quilted in.  I can do that!  You have a cute little bunny in your fabric and would like me to use that bunny in an E2E.  I can do that!  The possibilities have become quite varied in what I can accomplish for your quilt.

Don't forget to check the Events page for all the happenings and the few closings that will occur over the summer.

Start getting prepared for Christmas by getting those quilts in now.  With all of the new selections of quilting designs currently available and those coming soon, I am anticipating a bit of a backlog after Halloween.  Avoid the rush and get your name put in the drawing for the free custom quilting.

Stay cool and keep those machines humming.

Spring Quilting is in the Air

Happy Spring, Everyone!  The new studio is getting some organizing touches.  We're gearing up for Three Rivers Quilt Show. We have way too many openings in the calendar for quilting.

Give me a call to stop by and see the new studio or you can just take your chances and stop as you are driving past.  I'm here from 10ish to 3ish most days.  I am slowly getting my quilting designs put onto fabric samples for you to look through.  My tech dept. finally got the big photo printer up and running.  I am printing some amazing flower photos from Phipps onto fabric.  Also, printing up some Vegas wedding photos for a wallhanging.  Last but not least, Napa Valley anniversary photos are being printed.  I can print photos onto fabric for you, too.  Any good quality digital photo is all I need.

Quilt Show time is near.  Three Rivers Quilters Guild is holding their annual show at The Meadows this year from April 27-29.  Plenty of free parking!  Lots of demos from vendors and members.  In fact, I will be presenting a demo on Saturday at 11:00 (I think) about how to decide what quilting designs to put on your quilts.  Discount coupons for my studio for demo attendees.  Also, I will be there all day serving in different capacities with the guild, if you spot me (wearing my new PHQ studio t-shirt), ask me for a discount coupon, too.  Yes, I'm trying to entice you to attend the show.  Anyone that finds my quilt hanging in the show, finds me and tells me the name of my quilt will get an extra goody (Extra goody is valid on Saturday only.).

Help me fill up the calendar with quilting or rental times for the next 2 months.  I have some awesome new designs just waiting for a quilt like yours.  Don't forget the contest that is running for free custom quilting in October.  Bring in a quilt for yourself or a charity quilt for me to finish and you will get your name in for the drawing.  Bring in both and you get 2 entries.  Please see the complete rules and description on the Specials page.

Phil says 6 more weeks of winter. I say 6 more weeks of sewing.

Hope everyone stayed safe in the most recent snowfall.  I enjoyed it from the windows of the studio while I was working on one of my show entries.  Are you gearing up for the shows also?  Check out the Events page.  I have our local shows listed there.

I am still holding long arm rental classes for anyone interested in learning how to do free motion quilting on the Infinity.  The next 2 Saturdays are booked, but I have openings as needed.

I'm dong a little change up on batting that I have available on the roll.  In my efforts to continue to give you the best products and service at affordable rates, I have switched my stock batting to an 80/20 blend.  It is still Quilter's Dream with a mid loft.  New prices are under the Pricing page.

FINALLY, I am running a giveaway from January through the end of September 2017 in celebration of the new studio and our 2nd anniversary on October 1. The prize is custom quilt service on a quilt top of your choice.  This normally runs .04 cents per square inch.  The value of this is approximately $400, depending on your quilt top size.   Every customer that brings in a top to get quilted will automatically get their name entered once for every top.  You can also get an entry for every top that you bring in for charity.  I will quilt and bind the charity quilts and add them to the charity donations at Three Rivers Quilt Guild in October. Only 1 charity top per month per customer, please.  Anyone  can enter once over the time period of the contest by emailing me and asking for an entry or by going to the Pine Hollow Quilts Facebook page and commenting on the post at the top of the page.  This contest is open to anyone over the age of 18 who resides in the US.  Non quilters may participate and will receive a prize with a similar value, if they should win.  Contest ends on September 30,2017 at midnight EST.  Winner will be drawn at 12PM on October 1, 2017.

Welcome 2017!! Reopen at 1615 Pine Hollow Rd on Jan 30.

We have made the move successfully!!!!  Many thanks to my husband and adult sons for the help they provided over Christmas.  I could not have done it without their help.

We reopen on January 30th.  We had to switch over to an appointment based schedule due to township regulations.  As a home based business, this was the easiest way to comply. Please call to schedule your individual time.  412-584-4847

I have a great new space and am excited to share it with you.  I also have upgraded my quilting computer to Premium.  Most of the upgraded items you will never see as they are user intended, BUT it also included 300 new quilting designs!  I am in the process of doing stitch samples so that you can see how the patterns will look on your quilts.

We will be having some giveaways throughout the year to help celebrate our new location and other happenings.  Keep watch here and our Facebook page for more details.

I added new events to the "events" page.  Check them out.

Back to stitching samples.  Happy Sewing.  I look forward to seeing you soon.

Wow, 2016 is almost gone and, we are on the move!

It has been a very productive fall season at Pine Hollow Quilts and we are looking forward to the down time during the Christmas season.  We are currently closed and will reopen January 30, 2017.

Speaking of reopening, please note that we are moving!  Our new location is just down the hill. The address is 1615 Pine Hollow Rd.  It is the large barn behind our house.

Our hours will change at the new location to appointment only.  This is mainly due to the fact that I need to stay within certain township ordinances for a home business.  This also allows me to have more availability.  If you need a night time drop off or pick up, I can accommodate you easily.  The phone number will stay the same.

I have many fun things planned for 2017.  There will be a contest to win free quilting.  I hope to be a vendor at both the Three Rivers Quilt Show and the Quilt Company East Quilt Show.  I will have announcements to these and any others that I know about in the events section.

And with all of that said, I will wish each of you a very Merry Christmas and prosperous New Year.  Now on to moving the rest of the studio.

Progress and More Progress

Exciting things are continuing to happen with Pine Hollow Quilts.  We will start to drywall the new building next week.  We are anticipating a January move in and will keep you up to date as construction proceeds.

I am on my way to mastering a new computer program to better serve your quilting needs. What this means for you is that all quilting designs will be moved in house instead of outsourcing. We will be able to do personalized quilting designs tailored to your needs.  Keep watching for updated photos on the website and Facebook page.  We will be rolling out this new service in February after the move.

Christmas quilts are steadily coming in (and going out).  Do you have something that needs quilted for Christmas?  Avoid the last minute rush and get it here quickly.  The last day I am accepting non-rush orders is December 9.  Any Christmas orders after that date will be considered a rush job and will incur an extra $75 fee.  Rush orders will have a 24 hour turn around time.  Non-Christmas orders will still be accepted and completed as normal.

A well oiled and clean machine will sew better and last longer.
